The pass-hunter's route. Four of the highest, steepest, narrowest paved passes in the Sierra Nevada, strung into a loop out of Markleeville. Expect switchbacks with no guardrail, big elevation swings, and some of the best technical riding in California. Open only in summer — snow closes these roads most of the year.
